Hot asphalt needs to be heated to be workable. Due to the high amount of time, equipment and training, it’s not really financially feasible or safe to use hot asphalt to repair potholes in your driveway, unless you’re repaving. Cold asphalt can be applied in normal temperature ranges, and is often used for immediate patching by property owners and municipalities.
